Dear Friends :

We truly appreciate taking of your valuable time to become acquainted with the mission/purpose of our organization, the task of making an effective contribution in identifying, counteracting and assisting in defeating the dreadful consequences that Obesity pose upon the health, well-being and future of Our Children, especially due to the adverse results of their becoming victims of the Metabolic Syndrome (Syndrome X) .

Accordingly, we ask our health professionals (especially our kids’ doctors, the Pediatricians), as well as parents, teachers, and all concerned members of our society, as well as those good companies serving our community – to join us in our efforts, by supporting this worthy cause through their generous professional and/or tax-deductible financial contributions. Thank you.

On Childhood Obesity in the United States

We are presently experiencing – more than ever before in history – the dreadful consequences of Obesity in our children.

More than one-third of all our children are Overweight and of these, more than half – an estimated 17.6 percent of children and adolescents ages 2-19 years – are considered Obese.

Data from NHANES (National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey) comparing the periods of 1976–1980 to 2003–2006 shows that the prevalence of Obesity has now tripled for children aged 12–19 years, having increased from 5.0% to 17.6%, respectively.

But behind these cold and alarming statistics, a cruel future awaits these very young human beings in terms of adversity to their overall health, thus threatening the span and quality of their lives. Children being born today in our country are the first generation of young Americans to have a shorter lifespan – expectancy than their parents or grandfathers. They face enormous health challenges brought on by poor food choice  and overnutrition (one of the culprits of malnutrition), as well as by deficient physical activity.

Because of Obesity, they are victims also of Diabetes mellitus Type 2,  cardiovascular disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, asthma, sleep apnea and osteoarthritis among other serious health conditions.

On top of all these health calamities, our overweight kids are also innocent daily victims of cruel social discrimination and rejection by their peers, which leads them into low self – esteem and many even reaching into a deep state of depression and emotional misery.

Accordingly, it’s time NOW to stop the suffering of our overweight children,

We, as responsible parents and concerned members of our community, must take immediate, diligent, and militant action in educating, coaching, and supporting our children face and defeat the terrible and powerful enemy of Obesity,

In agreement with the American Obesity Association, our organization understands that implementing prevention programs and educating parents on a better understanding of treatment for youngsters is of the essence for controlling this Epidemic.

Consequently, we’ll collaborate with this worthy cause, by not only helping  educate the parents and children in improving their weight management efforts, but also by making the Government and our entire society become aware and concerned with the extremely adverse physical, mental and emotional consequences associated with Obesity in their younger population, as its likelihood to progress into the highly health-risk but yet, preventable and even reversible condition known as Children Metabolic Syndrome X, which we abbreviate as “ChiMeSyX”.

We invite the reader to pay special attention to our articles section : “The Adverse Consequences of Childhood Obesity Are Predicted by “ChiMeSyX” (Children Metabolic Syndrome X) “, “The Often-Ignored Day-to-Day Emotional Tragedy Experienced by Overweight Children “ and Our Coalition’s Priority Health Initiative Project : “The SlimFitKid Program”.
