About Us
Chartered in the state of Florida in 2006, THE COALITION TO DEFEAT CHILDHOOD OBESITY, INC. is a 501 c3 non-profit, community-based organization, whose Mission-Purpose is to help in the reduction of the incidence and prevalence of Childhood Obesity in the United States of America.
We aim to contribute our share in the fight against the Obesity epidemic among children and teenagers by providing free-of-charge nutritional education and guidance to parents, teachers, and concerned members of the community.
Our organization actively carries out an Awareness Educational Crusade To Stop Metabolic Syndrome X In Our Children, among pediatricians and other health professionals, as well as among parents, families, teachers and concerned members of the community, – aimed at identifying, preventing, counteracting, and even reverting the Metabolic Syndrome X in Children and Adolescents (among ages 10 to 16).
We are funded by donations coming from private organizations and individuals in the community which, like us, care a great deal for the well-being of our children. As per our 501c3 Charitable Organization status ALL DONATIONS TO OUR ORGANIZATION ARE TAX-DEDUCTIBLE.
Meet Our Founder
Augusto Agostini, Ph. D.
CEO / Founder
The Coalition To Defeat Childhood Obesity, Inc.
Having studied complementary medicine and nutrition in the United States, Mexico and Puerto Rico, Dr. Agostini became a Nutriologist (earning a doctorate – Ph. D. – in Nutrition) in 1996, and almost immediately established his own line of nutritional supplement products (“NutriTherapies” brand) in San Antonio, Texas in 1997, a stage of his professional career during which he also became an accomplished nutritional product formulator. Later in 1999, he moved to Orlando, Florida, where he established his own consulting “SlimFit & Healthy” Weight Management Centers.
In 2006, he founded “The Coalition To Defeat Childhood Obesity, Inc.”, a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to educating parents, family and teachers, etc. on how to most effectively manage overweight children’s health condition. It is through The Coalition’s websites and blogs that he began an Educational Awareness Crusade among pediatricians and other health professionals, parents, teachers and concerned community members on the importance of identifying, preventing, counteracting, and even reverting the Metabolic Syndrome X in Children and Adolescents (since ages 10 to 16), in order to prevent the occurrence of chronic-degenerative infirmities (such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus type 2, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, etc.) in them from an early age.
